Finding restaurants in Alicante may seem easy until you try to separate location from merit. The city has the sea, an old town, terraces, skilled counters and quite a few places that live more from where they are than from how they cook. Choosing well requires a little more judgement.
This selection brings together restaurants where food carries the visit: product-led houses, contemporary bistros, author-driven tables, Mediterranean restaurants and addresses worth more than an improvised decision. They do not all serve the same moment. Some work for a quiet lunch, others for a special dinner, a long after-lunch conversation or a first visit to Alicante with some intention.
The aim is to bring order to the noise. It does not try to cover every restaurant in the city, but to highlight those with a recognisable line: cooking, service, product, context or a serious enough combination of all of them.
